Kirk Shryoc

Kirk is a founding partner at HRS and head of its structured finance advisory practice, providing guidance to issuers regarding financing platform development or modification, and advising private equity sponsors and companies on acquisition and investment opportunities that involve significant securitization funding requirements. He also serves in interim CFO / external head of finance roles to large early-stage companies, including two Vision Fund portfolio companies.


With almost 20 years of diversified structured finance experience, he has an extensive background in legal, banking, corporate treasury, capital structure management, finance operations, consulting, as well as advisor and board roles.

Kirk has remained on the cutting edge of financing innovation throughout his career, beginning with significant involvement in the first large wave of modern whole business securitizations. His financing innovations include several novel platforms and numerous mechanical features, expansion of financing methods to new jurisdictions, as well as development of a conceptual financing structure that is the structural analog to a REIT for vehicles.

Prior to HRS, Kirk executed all of Hertz’s capital market transactions as the Vice President & Assistant Treasurer Capital Markets from 2009 to 2017 where he managed a $20+ billion structured finance-dependent balance sheet. He architected Hertz’s modernized rental car and fleet lease securitization platforms, overseeing $10+ billion of liquidity lines across 12 countries and roughly 20 relationship banks.


Before that, Kirk spent two years with Merrill Lynch / Bank of America Merrill Lynch as an Associate in their Global Asset Based Finance division, evaluating companies for development of novel securitization asset classes and executing various warehouse transactions across a number of asset classes (autos, rental car, fleet leasing, student loans). Kirk also spent three years as a Corporate Associate for Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP where he was heavily involved in various whole-business securitization transactions for clients including Dunkin’, Sonic Restaurants, Domino’s and U-Haul.

Kirk is a graduate of The George Washington University Law School with high honors, and The University of Texas at Austin.

Kris Hunt

Kris is a founding partner at HRS and champions the data for the company’s securitization management platform, with an emphasis on data mining, data integrity and logic. She has more than 35 years of experience in structured finance management systems, data analytics/science, software development, IT and consulting across the financial, retail, and travel industries.


Prior to HRS, Kris worked for Hertz as a Director of Treasury Systems, enabling a best-in-class asset-backed securitization reporting platform that facilitated daily reconciliations, audits and analytics for more than $10 billion of collateral. Before that, Kris spent nearly a decade as a data scientist and advanced analytics consultant for Teradata working on projects in the retail and travel/transportation space. Her roles have spanned the insurance, banking and retail industries with companies including Lowe’s, Home Depot, Wal-Mart, Wachovia and Kroger. Her focus has primarily been on improving and/or optimizing the assortment process, product line reviews, marketing strategies, site selection, baseline customer metrics, market basket analytics and merchandising.

A member of Women in Securitization, Kris graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in statistics and mathematics from Rutgers University. She has successfully completed three actuarial exams and is a Teradata Certified Master. In 2020, Kris contributed two case studies for the book "97 Things About Ethics Everyone in Data Science Should Know: Collective Wisdom from the Experts" by Bill Franks.

Josh Redden

Josh is a founding partner at HRS working across all areas of company business, from the most intensive aspects of structured finance contracting and reporting, to development and implementation of our client-facing securitization management platform. Supporting HRS customers with a combination of business expertise and technical acumen, he is well-versed in database modeling, database performance tuning, ETL design, SOX compliance guidelines, system architectures, and several programming languages.

Prior to HRS, Josh spent five years at Hertz, most recently as the Director of Treasury Systems, where he supported the design and development of a robust, asset-backed security financing reporting platform managing reporting for $10+ billion of collateral. Before Hertz, Josh worked for Teradata as a Database Consultant developing CRMs and other modules integrated into enterprise data warehouses.

Josh graduated from Miami University with a bachelor’s degree in management information services and an MBA with a focus on finance.

Phillip Bales

Phillip has over 30 years of experience in global capital markets, banking, and corporate finance. He has the unique perspective of having been a senior structured finance banker with Merrill Lynch, ING, and ScotiaCapital; having led capital markets platforms for large global corporations; and played a key role in multiple global financial services M&A transactions. Most recently, he was Global Head of Capital Markets for the $30 billion captive finance arm of AB Volvo where he built and managed a securitization, syndication, and capital markets operations platform delivering more than $20 billion of incremental funding to more than 40 markets across the Americas, Europe and APAC. Previously he was Head of Capital Markets for GECC’s $45 billion non-mortgage US consumer finance business where he had P&L responsibility for GE’s $15 billion private label credit card platform. In addition to his capital markets activities, Phillip has led the capital markets platform acquisitions of multiple commercial and consumer finance companies totaling more than $34 billion. Recognized as an industry leader, Phillip has served on the Board of the Structured Finance Association and been an active member of its DEI and mentoring programs.

Phillip holds a bachelor’s degree from Arizona State University and an MBA with an emphasis in International Finance from the American Graduate School of International Management.

Ming Zhang

Ming is a partner at HRS, where he works to maximize value around the company’s technology solutions.

He has more than 20 years of experience in enterprise-class analytics and data solutions across multiple industries, including financial, insurance, and healthcare. Ming has built and operated multiple actuarial/financial analysis platforms, including leading Hertz’s original securitization management system development project and modeling for Medicare's shared saving programs. He has also architected real-time decision systems responsible for processing millions of signals in minutes. 

Ming graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology with bachelor’s degrees in electrical engineering/computer science and management information systems.
